Promotion of maternal and child health in Mushasha
After having supported other organisations’ projects, Museke is back in Burundi and starts from a health centre, one of the numerous small health realities that daily offer primary health care to hundreds of patients. Our intervention was requested by the HC of Mushasha, owned by the Archdiocese of Gitega: the objective is to improve the health care services supplied to the local community, particularly those aimed at women and children, for a progressive improvement of maternal and child health.
By direct dialogue with our local partner arose the priorities to deal with; thanks to the collaboration with our Italian partner we’ve found the answers, resulting in the following actions:
• Training HC paramedical staff in maternal and child health
• Hiring a doctor to support the existing staff
• Renovating and equipping the Health Centre
• Carrying out an awareness campaign of the local community on issues related to maternal and child health

A Marcolini Village in Haiti
2013 has opened with a new ambitious project, which brings together different organizations, from Brescia and beyond. Headed by Fondazione Sipec, we’ll fly to Haiti to build a community centre and a Marcolini Village in Croix-des-Bouquets, a village in the neighbourhood of Port au Prince, where many displaced people have settled after the earthquake of 2010.
Our project, in line with government policy, responds to the primary right to house but also includes the goals of education, lifelong learning and socialization, with the intention of rebuilding the social fabric that always plays a crucial role in the rebirth of a country.
