Radiology arriving at Koupela PDF Print E-mail

The association Ospedali in Burkina has been working for several years in Burkina Faso, at the public hospital of Koupela, alongside the local paramedical staff. Once evaluated the needs of the area, in 2013 they started the construction of a radiology: the new department was built and the X-ray unit was purchased and is now ready for sending. The component of human resources was carefully planned as well: the local ministry has pledged to take two radiology technicians and two assistants for the maintenance of the department, that is to say the essential personnel to make the project work. The association also ensures the availability of Italian radiologists and technicians who will travel to Koupela for training. The project has garnered the favour of Museke, who decided to support it with a contribution.

A well for Ethiopia PDF Print E-mail

In March 2013 Museke Foundation responded positively to a request for financial contribution submitted by VIS (Volunteers for International Development) for the implementation of an project in the Tigray region, northern Ethiopia, affected by recurrent droughts and food insecurity.

The goal of the project is to promote access to safe drinking water by the population of the district of Irob, improving their living conditions through:

  • the construction of a well with a hand pump in the village of Alitena
  • the establishment of a management committee for the maintenance of local water point and the spread of good sanitation practices.

The well, completed last October, ensures constant access to safe drinking water to 70 families for a total of about 550 people. The success of the project has been granted by the local presence of VIS and the collaboration with a local NGO, the ADCS (Adigrat Catholic Secretariat).

Promotion of maternal and child health in Mushasha PDF Print E-mail

After having supported other organisations’ projects, Museke is back in Burundi and starts from a health centre, one of the numerous small health realities that daily offer primary health care to hundreds of patients. Our intervention was requested by the HC of Mushasha, owned by the Archdiocese of Gitega: the objective is to improve the health care services supplied to the local community, particularly those aimed at women and children, for a progressive improvement of maternal and child health.

By direct dialogue with our local partner arose the priorities to deal with; thanks to the collaboration with our Italian partner we’ve found the answers, resulting in the following actions:

• Training HC paramedical staff in maternal and child health

• Hiring a doctor to support the existing staff

• Renovating and equipping the Health Centre

• Carrying out an awareness campaign of the local community on issues related to maternal and child health

Headed by Fondazione Sipec, we’ll fly to Haiti to build a community centre and a Marcolini Village in Croix-des-Bouquets, a village in the neighbourhood of Port au Prince, where many displaced people have settled after the earthquake of 2010.

Our project, in line with government policy, responds to the primary right to house but also includes the goals of education, lifelong learning and socialization, with the intention of rebuilding the social fabric that always plays a crucial role in the rebirth of a country.
